Cuddy has done medical malpractice (operating without House’s informed consent on his leg after the infarction),

Stacy acted as House's medical proxy.

Cuddy: He change his mind?

Stacy: No. He’s asked to be put in a chemically induced coma so he can sleep through the worst part of the pain.

Cuddy: We can do that.

Stacy: What happens after he’s in the coma?

Cuddy: We’ll obviously monitor his condition closely, and if he can get through the next forty-eight hours without another cardiac incident -

Stacy: I meant, I’m his health-care proxy, I get to make medical decisions for him if he’s not able to.

Cuddy: You should talk to him about what he wants to do.

Stacy: I know what he wants, but if he’s out it’s my call, right? [Cuddy nods.]

Stacy: The middle ground you were talking about ( ... )

Cuddy knew she was acting against House's explicit will and therefore performed malpractice. A medical proxy is there to say what to do when the patient's will is unknown. They all knew they acted against House's explicit will.

Yes, House has a "masochistic streak", actually more a battered-child-syndrome. More here: http://zeppomarx.livejournal.com/42941.html?thread=613053#t613053

I agree that House has battered-child syndrome (and that many disagree about this). But I would ask again: why did he "die" so that he could be with Wilson for the last five months of Wilson's life?

Because he almost died anyway. He wanted to kill himself over the whole disaster short before the miracle happened. Do you really think he would have survived another jail time? And what should he fight and survive for? What did he have to look forward to?

He loves Wilson, why is this wrong? Love is never right or wrong, it just is.

In real life, Wilson would've been out on his ass for sleeping with a patient. And House would've gone to jail multiple times over (multiple more times over) for stealing drugs, driving on drugs, endangering patients, assaulting people (and yes, I know he's been assaulted, too but there wouldn't be a quid pro quo in the legal system), and probably Medicare fraud, if that House & Stacy trip to Baltimore is any indication.

One of the interesting ethical questions early in the show was, "Do you have to be nice to be good?" and another was, "Do you have to care emotionally to be effective?" I really enjoyed it when they compared and contrasted House and the other characters, showing different aspects and allowing us to draw our own conclusions. I happen to think House is awesome the way he is, and we don't need to pretend he reaches out to others more than he really has in order to find him awesome.
