Independence Weekend
I had a three day weekend, which ended up being really nice and relaxing. I needed a mini vacation to de-stress from work. ;)
On Friday night Adam and I went out to dinner. Before dinner we stopped at a bar so he could drop off something for a friend. I met his friends Jay and Nikki. There were others, but I'm horrible at remembering names. We then decided on Benvenutos since Adam was thinking italian or mexican, and he had never been there before. Our waitress seemed to be forcing her smiles, which was annoying. She also gave Adam the wrong wine. My food was delicious! I ordered the Chicken Tetrazzini. He ordered the Penne Supreme and didn't think it was anything special. Which was too bad because I really enjoyed my dinner. However, we both enjoyed each other's company during dinner. Afterwards we went back to my apartment to relax and cuddle. :)
On Saturday I didn't do much. I spent a lot of time relaxing in front of the tv. I went outside for a while to read a book in the sun, but after half an hour or so I got too sweaty. I was really hoping to meet up with Hailey or someone for drinks, but since it was the holiday weekend she was busy. So I watched the movie Beastly instead. It wasn't bad. After that I watched The Edge on netflix, which brings back fun memories of the island house. I crack up every time when the geese hit the plane because it's so ridiculous. I was feeling a little lonely since I hadn't seen anyone all day, but I felt better before going to bed.
I got into a cleaning frenzy on Sunday, which was good. I cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, and living room. I took a few breaks to catch some of the LOTR marathon on tv. After showering I ran some errands to pick up stuff for the picnic on the 4th. When Adam was done working he biked over. I was hungry, so we went to get some cheeseburgers. Then we watched Deadwood until going to bed. It was a lazy evening, but it's always nice to spend time together.
On Monday Adam had to wake up early and go to work. I got up around 10am and started to get ready and pack for our picnic/beach day. Before I knew it, it was time to pick up the subs and the man. ;) The drive there kinda sucked since I don't have AC, but we made good time. We found a nice spot on the beach and set up our stuff. We drank and talked while enjoying the sun. Naughty Adam didn't put on sunscreen and was turning red before long. We waited to eat until Jamie arrived. We all talked and goofed around. Cassi arrived not too long afterwards. We played frisbee for a while which was fun. I really wanted to go swimming, but the water was too cold and Kings Park isn't really my favorite place for a dip. So we mostly spent the day talking, joking, and just having a general good time. We snapped some photos, and then made a fire. We began to relax right before the fireworks started. They seemed lame in comparison to previous years, but it was still enjoying. I loved sitting close to Adam while watching them. The drive home seemed to take forever. We were both exhausted and Adam's sunburn was starting to hurt in some places. We finally made it back around midnight and just wanted to jump into bed, but we were so sandy that we had to rinse off first. When we did get to bed, it seemed we were both exhausted, but totally alert. Lol. It didn't take too long to fall asleep though.
All in all, it was a very good weekend. I especially had a great time on the 4th.
