Nevermind the fact that The Darkness sold out! Nothing can stop the forces of Katie and I when we have our minds set on a good show. After a late afternoon of bedspread shopping at Urban in Georgetown (mine is aqua with white and peach japanese dogwood print -- sooo pretty!!), we decided to hit up the 9:30 Club, because its fun times just to hang out there even if you can't get in. So I also bought a hot pink thong for a dollar to throw at the stage. It reads "HELL HEART" in rhinestones, and, I dunno, The Darkness is just the kind of band you throw your panties at. I snagged a ticket for 20 bucks after just a few minutes or so of workin' the corner. Katie actually got her ticket for free about half an hour later, thanks to one very kickass, random girl, who we, in turn, rewarded with mucho hugs. YES, The Darkness is suffering from a Queen complex or something. But they can laugh at themselves and that's the best thing -- three lead singer costume changes (one being into an electric purple, zebra print lyrca suit, complete with some sort of black, furry mane). To quote the great Dave Grohl, "are these guys for real?" Yes and no Dave, yes and no. The songs were fun, lots split jumps and swearing, with Justin holding up a lighter for his OWN power ballad. I am so, SO happy that all worked out. Hail to cock rock baby!!
I forgot all about that pink thong in my pocket though. Currently, it's hanging on James and Chris' doorknob...
