My dad came yesterday around 11 AM to see what was up with my car. It turns out that electrical repairs had once been made on it using cloth surgical tape; see, that's what you get when you find your car in bumblefuckin' FroRo. When some of the wires got overheated the other night, the cloth caught on fire, cutting off connections but without actually destroying the wires. The electrical tape needed to repair my car totaled to $2.99, so I guess you could say I completely lucked out. However, my parents are understandably freaked that things could just randomly go up in flames like that, and so they're helping me to find a new car over the next couple of weeks.
But enough about vehicles.
After my dad left, my very exhausted self took a little nap, a cold shower, and three shots of expresso. I also grooved around to Outkast for probably 45 minutes, donned Express "THE SEX" pants, and chugged two of Katie's wine coolers because they were the only alcoholic things I could find anywhere(to no avail however -- blasted girly drinks!!). Death Cab for Cutie and Ben Kweller were last night, a show I had been looking forward to for a while. I went with Katie, Matt, and Hannah. Ben Gibbard gave one of the most sincere performances I've ever seen at a show, I mean, how couldn't he?! Death Cab's lyrics just translate something so natural, if that makes any sense. I was completely moved by their performance. Ben Kweller and crew, donning the black leather biker jackets, were pretty sweet too. Kweller's new stuff rocks out a bit more than his last album, unfortunately, the quality of lyrics hasn't improved at all. There's a lot of boring, immature rhyming that kind of gets annoying after awhile. But maybe that's just me... It's still sweet, beautiful music. Sigh. Katie and I were front and center for the entire night, much to the dismay of a group of seven or so highschoolers who had left a foot and a half of space between themselves and the group in front of them, yet wished "herpes" upon Katie and me just for taking advantage of the opening. Must have been their first show ever or something ;)
I bought a Death Cab shirt and Kweller played "In Other Words," the song I'll love forever, as part of his encore. It was perfect. I spent the rest of my evening in buzzing concert mode. Josh, James, and I took a bottle of Jack down to Lot L where all the circus elephants were sleeping. We talked about E.E. Cummings and drank steamy tea, and I finally drifted off as the sky was turning pink.
