Sherlock Fanfiction
Earlier today I had a look at the Sherlock fanfiction I started writing a few months ago and found it's actually quite good (even if I say so myself) and it's got me in the mood to carry on and finish it. Here are some of the ideas I'm writing:
(All are working titles)
Twenty Years Late
Sherlock tries to figure out exactly what John is to him and encounters all sorts of problems with his new found emotions. Probably non-slash, asexual Sherlock.

The I-Know-Something-You-Don't-Know Smirk
John gets drunk after Sarah dumps him and accepts a bet from Sherlock that Molly will stop her infatuation with Sherlock before John gets asked out on a date. Even intoxicated, John can tell that Sherlock knows something he doesn't and makes a note to book the next week off work in case he loses the bet.
An attempt at slash, John/Sherlock obviously.

Untitled sequel to inclination_fic 's 'The Simple Things'
John enquires as to whether they are in a relationship, expecting Sherlock to be as uncaring and uninterested about it as he is about other people's emotions.

Nightmares
John's nightmares had faded soon after moving in to Baker Street, but when they suddenly start again there is something different about them.

John still has nightmares and Sherlock doesn't know how to cope. Might mix this with the previous idea.

Mycroft being as all-knowing/all-seeing as he seems, he was probably spying on 'Anthea' and John in the car to and from his little meeting. Mycroft POV of the kidnapping scene, possibly more.

Untitled Crack-fic based on this first line:
"You're saying he's gay because he puts product in his hair? Sherlock, I put product in my hair!"
"Then you're gay too. So am I come to think of it. And Lestrade and Mycroft - they have a thing going you know. Anderson is probably the only straight male in this series we know."
Basic admirative mockery of the fandom's obsession with slash and Sherlock/John and Lestrade/Mycroft, and Anderson/nobody. Also of the series' insistence that there is no slash, despite the continual hints at it! A random mush of thought from my brain.

Random paragraph (or two) that I jotted down that might turn into a fic:
John has a brilliant mind, Sherlock thinks. In fact it's probably the most brilliant mind Sherlock has ever met. Not because of knowledge or intellect - he has Mycroft for that - but because his mind and John's mind seem to perfectly compliment each other. Sherlock deduces the facts; John, the emotions. They are a perfectly matched couple team. [Sorry, couldn't resist - it's what my brain screams whenever I read it]
Sherlock can see all this - the facts - but he needs John to figure out what they mean. And he has no idea how John will take this latest deduction.
I also have a massive list of random ideas which pop into my head at inconvenient times. I might try to incorporate some of them into the fics I've already started, or I might write some more separate ones. Here are some of them - feel free to steal them if they give you some ideas (just let me know and credit me please!):
- Sherlock is called to be on a jury / has to be a witness in court.
- At university Sherlock goes to every single lecture that interests him that he can (e.g. he's studying Chemistry, but also goes to Biology/Psychology/Criminology/Forensics etc...).
- John makes Sherlock watch all the traditional Disney movies.
- John participates in Movember (in November, grow a moustache in aid of prostrate cancer) CANON REFERENCES!
- John is awarded a camel medal [while I was typing the original list I was watching a TV program which mentioned camels...] - i.e. He has to go and be presented it by the Queen, perhaps only family can go along and Sherlock insists he's practically family / They turn up together and everyone assumes they're together together / Sherlock is related to the Queen so they get special treatment / other hilarious situations.
- Sherlock is given the case of Joanna Yeates (real life disappearance - she bought a pizza on her way home and disappeared with it while leaving her coat, bag, phone, and the receipt at her flat)
Hopefully posting this will motivate me to actually finish some of these! XD Let me know what you think!
EDIT: At inclination_fic 's request and prompting, we are now co-writing a fic in which John and Sherlock acquire a camel... It will be a crack!fic with extra side helpings of crack! XD
