Hey all, back in LJland after a bit of a hiatus. Lester showed me his favorite people and places in England for a couple weeks in early July, and since then I've kept my computer time focused to a surprising degree on work and househunting. This has paid off in that (a) I've convinced myself that I can and should do some simulations of how photosynthesis proteins organize themselves as the plant changes its light-harvesting efficiency, and (b) Laura and I moved into a nice new place and Lizzy has joined us in it and we are well on our way to making it our own. These are both very good things. And England too--England was such a very very good thing. Lester was a stellar traveling companion, his family and friends were warm and welcoming, and his hometown of Bath is a place that every reader of A Pattern Language should visit and savor. Hopefully I'll get around to posting my meager photographic record soon: possibly before Burning Man, but realistically not, since I've done woefully little towards preparing myself to have an awesome time there thus far. But um I've had a lot of frozen yogurt and beer and farmer's market cucumbers instead? Really, not a bad summer, all things considered.
