As I've said many times already, I really love this piece. You captured Spock amazingly well, and the scene is almost tangible. And even without showing Jim's face, it's obvious who he is. :) Thanks so much for letting me write for you, and job well done!
i love this piece of art, already did when i originally saw it when we got to choose our artists and am still loving it now. the action in the scene seems to almost leap off the paper (or, ya know, the computer screen ;) ) and spock looks just so .. lost, surrounded by his blood. i love jim having at the klingon in the back - no one gets between him and his injured spock, and particularly not one of the ones to have caused those injuries.
very well done, and i'm happy to have seen this art spark off fiction :)
That was definitely something I had in mind when I drew it. I wanted to convey his sense of urgency and desperation, and the fact that he was so caught up in rescuing Spock that he forgot about his phaser... hah.
Sure, Kirk is there kicking Klingon ass but from Spock's perspective, he might as well be a hundred miles away.
Yes! Exactly. Thank you! I worked on it with the idea of creating two very different scenes and combining/contrasting them: Spock's stillness vs Kirk's action, darker colours in the foreground vs brighter ones in the background. I'm so pleased it worked for you.
Oh, that picture is full of story! I love the feetses the division between what Spock sees (woooh, expressive sad face!) and what the viewer knows. Energetic Kirk fight, yay!
Spock's face, man, that's so sad, he looks so bereft and resigned. :-( Thank you for sharing this evocative drawing! :D
Thanks! Yes, well, every time I try to think of a Trek story it always involves hurt!Spock (there might be something wrong with my brain's wiring), and because I'm way too lazy to write it, I drew it instead - and got someone else to write it! Genius.
p.s. It's okay. Spock's better now. Jim and I looked after him.
mmmmmm so emotional! i love how he's tangled in himself! Did you use a reference? Or can you just draw like that? Really, really great! And I love his Nimoy-ness! *kisses him all better*
The blood is really disconcerting! Excellent art! So full of ... backstory!
Oh, I definitely used a reference; there's no way I could draw that under my own brain power. I have to confess to having a bit of a fascination for the green blood. *is weird*
