First day of my Community Medicine rotation. I'm attached to the county Healthy Start, which gives health, nutrition and social services to pregnant women and children up to age three who are at risk of abuse/neglect/domestic violence. Cool program.
I was invited to attend and observe their evening Childbirth education sessions, which run for three weeks at a time. I get a copy of the curriculum and read it over a bit. Later that evening, when I arrive, there are eight women and their coaches (partners, mothers, sisters, friends) and no instructor. She calls me to say that she is delayed by car trouble and asks me to teach the class.
Dude, it's my first day, I've never given birth and they want me to give a childbirth class? So in true Caitlin fashion I winged it. I think it went ok, but my caustic humor may or may not have gotten me in trouble.
Representative quote: "Lamaze? I got your Lamaze right here. It's called an epidural."
Bwa ha ha ha ha!
I'm such a moron.
