ARGHUAHG! !!

I've waited over a year to play Halo 3, and when I received my brother-in-law's used xbox 360 I thought I would finally have my chance. My hopes were utterly shattered however when I put the disc in and an error message was displayed, informing me that the disc was unreadable. The game was guaranteed at Game Crazy, so I replaced it and tried a different copy. To my dismay, the same result was displayed.

A few times I was lucky and the game loaded, but when I tried loading any map (campaign or multiplayer) it would "fail to load content." I called my brother-in-law, who told me that though he had problems getting the game to load, it was easily fixed by restarting the console. He said that he never had any problems loading maps. I followed his suggestions, but nothing worked. I have a feeling that I'll have to send the console to Microsoft and get a new one.

My father and I worked together through this struggle, and while I was fiddling with the console, he was researching the problem online. What he found added to our horror.

Many webpages have been dedicated to this issue, and what's most unsettling - Microsoft has done nothing more than admit that there is a problem. That was over a year ago, and yet the problem has not been resolved. In fact, they've ignored it completely, while angry and desperate gamers have spent hundreds of dollars trying to come up with a solution themselves. Sounds like a conspiracy to me!

*sigh*

At least it can play any other game without problems. I am grateful for the generous gift, even if it doesn't function correctly.

I can't help but point out the impossible irony here. Halo 3 was arguably the most anticipated game launch in recent years, and when it finally does launch, it doesn't work properly for a considerable number of gamers. Microsoft and Bungie, after seeing the complaints, recognize there is a problem, but do absolutely nothing to fix it as they watch it sell over 300 million copies.

Arg.

At least our Wii works great.
