I had some free time, and so, without much ado, I present:

Oh, one MORE teensy thing...Peter O'Toole. The man has been nominated for the best actor award 7 TIMES and never won. I think that might get political...plus he's supposed to be fantastic, though, again, haven't seen it.

In response to all of your other posts...

Yes, I haven't seen all of them, so I can't judge everything equally. But I've seen a bunch of these, and it's just my opinions on the subject. I had some free time, and this was fun to write up.

Also, Peter O'Toole doesn't stand a chance. No one doesn't think Forest Whitaker will win. I haven't seen either movie, though, so we'll see on Sunday.

Give the old man some CREDIT. The Oscars are a popularity contest, not about who's actually done the best. They'll throw him a bone!

The Oscars award talent far more than any other big award show (Grammys, etc). Forest Whitaker won at the Golden Globes, and I'm 99% sure he'll win at the Oscars.

That doesn't mean that he'll win for sure. Joaquin Phoenix won the golden globes last year but Philip Seymour Hoffman won the oscar.

The Golden Globes split all the awards into "Drama" and "Musical/Comedy" catagories. Hoffman DID win Best Actor, for a Drama. Phoenix won for Musical/Comedy.

This year, Forest Whitaker won for Drama, and Sacha Baron Cohen won for Musical/Comedy, and Cohen didn't even get a Oscar nomination. It's VERY unlikely that Whitaker will lose.

Yeah, because someone's going to argue that Forest Whitaker's more talented than Peter O'Toole. Winning at the GG is a good bet, but the 'talent' factor....um, Whitaker was doing a super heavy role, and he's black. I'd use those reasons before claiming he's more talented than O'Toole.
