long time, no post

I have really dropped the ball here - not even a Card of the Day for a while!
I've been enjoying life, though - family gatherings, game playing, eating and drinking out, bar trivia, meeting the new cat:

(possible name: Greebo), taking care of my car, and not doing any art or writing. I am trying to get the writing done now, but it's hard going. Rar.
I saw the first episode of Game of Thrones, and will probably catch up on the rest with On Demand or something next month. Saw the premiere of Doctor Who on BBC America and was amazed, bewildered, and enchanted once again. Ogled spoileriffic photos from the set of Merlin as well. Yay!
I really have to focus, though, because things are happening that are on a schedule. First there's the wedding next weekend (you all know how much I love marrying people!), for which I must finish up the script. Then there's ApolloCon coming up very soon, and making sure I have all the materials ready for that. (If you're in Houston for the last weekend in June, come on by! We're awesome!)
Also coming up: Art Car Parade! w00t!

I am also trying to get back into the art/craft mood. Fanart is a touch frustrating because I feel like my output is just a plateau of mediocre. Even knowing that fandom tends to gravitate toward certain subjects/tastes, and that contributions outside that category get comparatively little attention, I am an artist seeking validation just like everybody else. Urgh. There are times I wish my head were a touch bigger (really, I do fine - I know I am good at what I do with plenty of room for improvement, and I make my choices aware of my corners of fandom) just so I could stomp on the stupid envy that still ruins a perfectly decent afternoon some days, and then production just stalls again.
That said, I have once more signed up to do the Art Show at ApolloCon, that painfully bizarre exercise in self-torture by auction tags. I do it for the experience and the practice at managing printing, but if I were really serious about showing/selling I would find some other cons.

Today I am concentrating on the writing, hopefully sometime this week I can go back and look at the art WIPs with a slightly more optimistic attitude.
