Here's the meme as I got it from
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
(These icons are all from my LiveJournal account - yes, each account has a separate, somewhat overlapping, set.)
This is a photo I took of a lotus flower at Longwood Gardens in the Philadelphia area. I was visiting with my goddaughter and her parents, and the evening light was so amazing that it made even my crappy snapshots look like fine art. The lotus flower has special spiritual significance to me, so I was especially glad to get so many nice shots.
Ok, so I have this slight obsession with the Apocalypse, and it's many associated mythologies. I love stories, and especially stories about the End of All Things, or about Cataclysms that come close to total destruction. I dunno, I also like villains in the movies. Just a weird quirk. So this quote paired with an image from that particular episode of Doctor Who was very appealing. [icon by
masquerade_arts This is a sketch I drew for my portfolio site way back in the Dark Ages, although it's still there. The site is woefully out-of-date and begs for a clean-up, but I doubt I'll have time to address it anytime soon. Anyway, I have this other obsession with hippos. It's a family thing. My parents collected them, I adopted the quirk, I have tons of hippo stuff and find the animals pretty awesome, as well. Not to mention ridiculously cute. Look at that face! I especially love the blue faience hippos of Ancient Egypt, by which this sketch is influenced. Whenever I go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, I have to visit William the Hippo in the Egypt Galleries. I know exactly where his case is. :)
LOL, I'd forgotten about this. I have a lot of Luna Lovegood art, and a lot of fic, too. She's my favorite character from Harry Potter and I tend to give her a lot of different futures, depending on my mood. She has great potential. This particular icon of her is from a piece I did for hump_day_smut, on the theme of "Luna", and enabled me to use the pun-tastic title: "Luna is a Harsh Mistress".
I loved John Cho in the new Star Trek, and this is the perfect silly geeky icon for those moments when I am being ridiculous or pedantic or both, or when somebody I know has been AWESOME (which happens a lot. I feel lucky to know so many awesome people.) [icon by virtuosities]
Oh, Mr. Darcy. I probably wouldn't love you nearly as much without Colin Firth to pave the way, because seriously, you're kind of an ass. But then again Lizzie's not exactly nice either. In any case, I love the humorous contradiction between the words and the character, and it usually gets a laugh from fans of the miniseries. [ icon by
