catching up

So, I haven't really blogged much in the last few weeks, just highlighting a few things.
I've been busy with work and fandom, and that's pretty much been it. Also reading - I did a lot of reading recently.
Soulless by Gail Carriger -- awesome and funny and really enjoyable.

Coincidentally, I just sent an e-mail to Gail Carriger (not her real name). I met her at a Worldcon a few years ago and Paul spent a Battlestar Galactica viewing night at her house when he was out in California for a conference. You should see her costumes! I haven't read Soulless yet but I've bought it and plan to read it soon.

I read The Magicians twice this year. Paul is reading it now. It's really quite something, isn't it? The chapter about Brakebills South is perhaps one of my favorite chapters of anything I've ever read.

Brakebills South definitely struck me with wonder. Just the whole idea, and the way that almost nobody took up the last challenge, etc.

A very thought-provoking book.
