So the other day I burned my forearm while I was cooking.  Somehow I managed to unbalance the pan lid I had in my hand and it flipped back and got caught under my watch. When I was applying ice to it in the initial aftermath, I accidentally touched the loose skin and opened it, so then it was a big ugly burn AND an open blister. I had it under a ( Read more... )

never heard of it before, but it sounds like the stuff I used the first day.
does seem to present the same difficulty as Vitamin E oil or honey in that it is potentially messy, although probably I could do the loose gauze thing over it for part of the day (thought burns should be left open, not bandaged, in general).
don't know that anything will really be able to fix the fact that it either hurts or is messy when I try to do anything with my left hand. not until it heals a bit more. :P

Nope, moist healing is best. My best suggestion is to use a covering of some kind, and if it sticks then moisten it before trying to pull it off. I'm not sure gauze is the way to go because it will pull any moisture out of the wound and you want the wound to retain moisture. Maybe a really big band-aid over the honey? I'm sorry you got hurt -- burns suck. Feel better!

The burn is bigger than a plastic Easter egg? Eeeep!

How about a plastic cream cheese or spreadable margarine container?

Why not try a bit of saran wrap over the honey? If you make it big enough to extend past the edges, you could tape it down with surgical tape.

But honey is goopy, and saran should stick to the goop. And it won't suck moisture.

Maybe?
