Free-Motion Quilting
Originally uploaded by zephrene. I finished the wedding quilt for Michelle and Andy a few weeks ago, and mailed it to arrive in time for their Leap Day Anniversary.
This is a close-up of the free-motion stippling stitches with which I covered everything but the photos.
More photos at Flickr, and even more coming soon, I hope - we had so many cameras, I have to find the right memory card. I hope I have some more shots of the final stages, which involved heat-bonded Swarovski crystals. There's also a label on the back and a loop for hanging it on a curtain rod.
I feel pretty proud of this project, even though it took nigh on 4 years to finish it. A lot of those years were not crafting delays, but logistics delays with my collaborator, because we no longer lived in the same house. Once I got it into my hands and got my magic sewing machine, the thing was done fast.
