character development

The writing is going pretty well, all things considered. I've got several scenes working in different times (thank gods for yWriter so I can organize everything) and now E and I have started a correspondence between our main characters. That should be entertaining.

Amie and I started profiling new RPG characters for an original game we're creating, and that is also always fun. This is a real-world game, for a change, which just makes things more exciting. Motorcycles and leather jackets and jet planes and government conspiracies and many, many secrets. Yay.

I'll have to see how much work I can get done today so that I can get out to the write-in tomorrow afternoon, and maybe also get some done around the house.

In other news - W is completely mental! "We can take pride in holding elections even in a time of war"!?!?!?!? WTF!?!?! Absolutely off his gourd.

We've been watching Veteran's Day stuff on CSPAN and BookTV all day - one of my dad's Navy buddies is in a writing/meditation group with Maxine Hong Kingston in Oakland, and they had a reading from an anthology they put together. That was exciting. Now I'm lobbying the parents to go out there and visit in person. There was also an airing from the 2006 National Book Festival: Andrew Carroll "Operation Homecoming: Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Home Front, in the Words of U.S. Troops and their Families". CSPAN had a panel of speakers who were POWs in Vietnam.

And now I must write.
