They kill off the good ones.

My favourite out of all three CSI shows would have to be CSI : NY.

Not only because it's the CSI that I've seen from day one but also because it's the one with the most charismatic cast. Don't get me wrong, I loved watching CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Las Vegas) when it first started -- it is the pioneer show after all but the team there never warmed up to me since a lot of times they would just be bickering with each other over things unrelated to the case they're handling. As for CSI: Miami, this spin-off never really caught my imagination all thanks, or rather, no thanks to their senior, H. The thing about Horatio is that he focuses more on the the psychology aspect of the crime. He's mostly seen interrogating/intimidating suspects or interviewing victims or witnesses and not doing the lab work or processing evidence. Not to say that what H is doing isn't important in a crime investigation; it's just that I am more interested in the evidence itself. Examining biological evidence, trace evidence, impression evidence, ballistics, firearms, reconstructions, autopsies and others is far more interesting to me. I guess it's natural for me to like those aspects of the show more because I have always loved working in a laboratory. I've always found it exciting whenever we did IRs, PCRs, gel electrophoresis and even cultures for laboratory classes. I never cared that some sessions would last for five to eight hours 'cause we're always working on something fun and new. Ah, I miss doing those stuff. I am talking Greek again, aren't I?

Let's get back to the show.

As I've said earlier, the NY version is the one that I always watch because of the ensemble. But, it has also disappointed me twice. Yeah, twice. First off, they killed my favourite female junior CSI, Det. Aiden Burn in Season 2 just when the chemistry between Aiden and Danny Messer (my favourite male junior CSI) was getting good. Exhibit A:

But it wasn't really the show's choice to have Aiden removed from the team. It was actually Vanessa Ferlito, the actress playing Aiden, who wanted out of the show so that she could concentrate more on doing movies and plays. Bad choice, girl! While CSI: NY went on to be big, her career didn't really do that great. As far as I know, she hasn't starred in any good films or theater productions lately.

The second and perhaps bigger disappointment for me would be the show killing off my favourite female homicide detective - Jessica Angell. And again, they killed her off just when things between her and Donald Flack (my favourite male homicide detective) are getting all cutesy and hot. Arrrgh. Exhibit B:

The show has a habit of killing off my favourite characters, ne? WHYYY. This time though, the order of "shoot to kill" was from the executive producers for the very typical reason: budget cut. I have to admit that this move was brilliant as it gave Eddie Cahill (Don) and the rest of the cast a great material to work on. I cried buckets when I saw the very emotional 'saying good bye' scene: "She's gone". At the same time, the death of another of their own was also great season ender (the ratings went off the roof!). But I do wonder how they would now proceed to the sixth season. *sighs* Poor Flack, I love the guy to bits! At least Danny has someone new (and a kid to boot)~

September would open with the new CSI: NY season and I, for one, can't wait. Then again, September and the months following that would be a very busy time for me. But, it IS just a one hour a week show.... Speaking of which:

MERLIN, SEASON 2

A spankin' new season. HELL, YEAH!!!
