Well, last night was certainly interesting. There's nothing quite like seeing a car crash happen directly in front of you on the highway while you're down it at around 75 mph. Especially when part of one of the vehicles flies at you and pops right underneath your driver's side tire.

12:30ish:
I'm driving down the highway and the South Richards turn off is about to come up. The white Dodge truck in front of me goes to switch lanes as the station wagon in the fast lane suddenly jacks right and directly into the truck's side. The truck jackknifes and the station wagon continues to slide along side it. All the while, I'm trying to slow down as fast as I can to avoid becoming a piece of the action. Both of the truck's tires blow out as the station wagon continues to speed down the highway. A chunk of tire flies out and jumps under my own tire. The truck pulls off the shoulder and I do so as well.

ME (getting out of my Geo): Whoa man, you ok?

TRUCK GUY: Yeah, I'll be ok.

ME: What the hell happened? That was some crazy shit.

TRUCK GUY: Tell me about it. (He points to the entire driver side of his vehicle. About two inches from where the truck bed begins to all the way to the back of the Dodge Dakota there are numerous signs of the wreck. Both of the truck's tires are blown out on that side. The back one actually has debris from the station wagon sticking out of it.) Luckily, they just run into my truck bed.

ME: Yeah, that jerk came really close to your door. Are you ok?

TRUCK GUY: Yeah, I think so.

ME: Is there anything I can do? Need any help with anything?

TRUCK GUY: Could you stay here until everything gets worked out?

ME: Yeah, no prob man.

TRUCK GUY: My cellphone should be in the truck somewhere. (He searches through the truck, seemingly not able to find it.)

ME: Use mine.

TRUCK GUY: You sure?

ME: Yeah, go ahead. (I hand him my cell phone)

TRUCK GUY: Cool. Ah, I have the same one.

ME: By the way, my name's Robert.

TRUCK GUY: Andrew.

Andrew dials a number on my phone. He calls someone at his place and relates the details. After he's done with the phone call, he hands me back the phone.

ANDREW: I'm going to call highway patrol on the Call Box over there.

Andrew calls the highway patrol. Again relating the details of the accident but to the police this time.

ANDREW: Alright, the police are heading over. You can head off now if you'd like.

ME: Alright.

ANDREW: Thanks.

ME: No prob. Later man.

ANDREW: Later.

I got a call from him at around 2:30am. Apparently, the police found the woman that hit Andrew's vehicle. She pulled off the road about a mile down. I might be called in as a witness. All in all, a pretty eventful night.
