It's been awhile!

It's been a while since a real update.

Lets I played at the versus party on the 30th of July. Had a ton of fun playing along side freqking. Wasn't much of a battle, more of a who could get a mix out before the tables or cd decks started to skip. It was also really nice to be back in the old happenings space, fuck I miss that place.

The following weekend I headed out to Connect X. Went with keekapunk and synchronica, we rented a car for the trip as neither of owns one. Got a pretty slick deal too. $17.99/day, unlimited kms, for a full size. The deal even got better when they ran out of car and upgraded us to a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The drive out was so much more boring then any other time I have traveled that stretch of highway. Mostly due to it feeling like we were only doing 80/kph when doing 115/kph. The Jeep handled very good on the road, the gas milage sucked as in the city. Got a lot better on the highway though.

I don't even know how to explain Connect.... It was so much fun. I can't believe this was the first year I made it out. While out there I guess some people got to see a different side of me. The non promoter/dj side of me. Someone stated that I seemed more "human." I totally understand where that statement came from. When I am out and about in Winnipeg, especially over the past year and six to eight months, I tend to be very focused on the task at hand. Be it playing at a party or promoting the next show I am involved in. When I head out of town, I tend to loosen up at lot. I am out to just have a good time.

Rumor has it that this is suppose to be the last Connect, but I hear that is said every year. Here's hoping it's not. I am not going to go into any more detail on the weekend as it's pretty much been said by many people already.

I am still in the hunt for a new job. I have applied at a bunch of places, even at places not in the restaurant industry. Yay! for being totally fucked over by my current place of employment. Oh well I have been in worse situations and have bounced back, this will be no different.

Other then that I have no idea when I will have to work next. There are many events I am looking forward to, just not sure if I have the cash to cover them. It is so weird for me to have to say that. With the exception of major events (ie trips to Toronto or such) I have not really had to deal with cash flow problems in many years.

Over all though I have been quite good. Been doing a lot of thinking, looking at areas of my life that could use/need some change. I am not going to go into detail about what I have been thinking of because really... I hate when I make these great plans that never really happen.

Over the past little while I have gotten closer to at least one person I have know for a long time. It's really great to see that him and I have an actual bond, not just partying.

Well seeing as I am up, it's time to start getting this place tidied up.

EDIT: If you ever rent a car, do not get insurance through the rental company, go through MPI. So much cheaper, what we paid for 4 days of insurance was less then what 1 day was through the rental place.
