foodsperiment #934

There was some leftover chicken in the fridge from last night's chicken noodle soup, and some rudimentary foodstuffs new housemate & I procured at the local grocer's. New housemate has been hearing from current housemate/landlady about my cooking for months now, and wants me to show her a thing or two during the month she's staying with us. So tonight I decided to play around with some ingredients and see what came of it.

Tossed some white wine, butter, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl to let salt & peppered chicken breasts soak in while I started the satsumaimo (Japanese sweet potatoes) boiling. Ended up putting entirely too much ginger in the pot with the carrots and potatoes, but I think the nutmeg was a good call there. Maybe some milk next time to cut the kick of the ginger...chicken turned out trés nummers (^3^) The bread I did not make from scratch, in case anyone needs that clarified.

Next up: Kahlua-and-Malibu soaked pears, grilled in the oven & topped with vanilla ice cream.
Ho. Ly. Crap. (@o@) Sooooooooo much savory goodness! These are totes gettin' made again for Christmastimes.

Newbie wants to know how the recipe would go with apples instead. I propose further experiments are in order to determine the optimal fruit-and-boozahol pairing.
