Ugh, Jack being sick has left him extremely needy. So whenever I go anywhere in the house, he'll follow me. And then wherever I sit, he'll jump up on me and then continue to knead my body like it's a piece of dough. And he always does this while I'm doing things, like watching TV, laying down to sleep, or doing something on the computer. And it's always in front of my face! Sometimes he gets too close and puts his paws on bare skin, and that just hurts! Then I end up getting annoyed and want to toss him across the room. I don't know...just maybe halfway across the room...
Yoga: My first class was at 8 in the morning. That was yoga! Brent was supposed to come to the class with me, but he was running late and didn't know where the soccer field was. Which sounds kind of weird, but the way our school is set up is odd. The soccer field is so out of the way from other buildings that many students didn't even KNOW we had a soccer field. That was the case for me when I had a class out there last semester.
Brent finally showed up, about 20 minutes late. The whole time the teacher was talking or instructing us he had a sour look on his face. So I don't think he liked it very much. The mere fact that it was at 8 in the morning was reason enough for him to flake out on me. 8 in the morning? Oh no, nobody is awake then, right?
The class was a lot of fun. I'm a little sore already from what we did, but I felt pretty good afterwards, even though it was a preview. We were all over the place on our mats! The teacher is really enthusiastic about her job so it's really nice and makes you feel like she's going to do her best for you to like it as well!
Brent told me after class that he did like the class, but his schedule was so hectic that he probably couldn't do it. The way his schedule was set up was so odd. He would have a class on Mondays and Wedesdays at 8 am, 1pm, and 7pm. I asked him what he was going to do at school all day, and he said that he was planning on driving home after each class. Which is so retarded, that means three trips to school and back home. No wonder he's going to drop the Yoga class, which he told me he was going to do. Even driving to the school twice a day is a bit much.
Social Psychology: My next class was Social Psychology with one of my favorite teachers, Richard Kandus. Everybody has some professor that they have in college that they'll always remember; this is definitely that person for me. This is my third psychology type class with him. I took Intro to Psychology in my very first semester, then in my second I took Human Development. I missed the final to that class because I was in a car accident while on my way to that class! This class is the study of social behaviors, like love, hate, prejudice, frienships, relationships, etc. So it sounds like a lot of fun!
When the class was over I went up to him to talk and he pointed at me and said, "I know you!" He's like this really tall middle aged guy, all gangly and stuff, and he's just the happiest guy ever, sort of hippy-ish, but not annoying. He teaches his classes like he's just talking with somebody while eating lunch, meaning sometimes you go off on tangaents with little stories about your family and whatnot. It's so fun!
Now that I think about it, I hadn't had a class with him for all of 2008. It's so weird because the class was in the same classroom that I had his other classes in and it really felt like I wasn't out of his class for a year! So it's nice that I was comfortable right away. That's probably the main reason people re-take other classes with the same instructor for sure!
Planetary Astronomy: The next class I had was Planetary Astronomy. This class, like Yoga, was sort of a class I took just to fill space. Social Psych I don't really need either, but it fit in my schedule and once I saw the instructer who was teaching, I was sold to the class. But Planetary Astronomy was a class that looked kind of interesting and it fit in my schedule!
I was a really weird kid when I was little. I liked Power Rangers and Barney and Sesame Street like you're supposed to, but I would go through weird phases where I would want to learn about something. The three that I remember me going to the library all by myself (meaning teachers didn't tell me to do this) was when I was really into Egyptians (their culture with pyramids), American Indians, and the Planets. I have no idea why these things interested me so much, but I guess I would watch something, probably a movie, and end up wanting to learn more.
Anyway, that was sort of my incentive to do this class when it came time to choose. It was something a little familiar and I knew I was interested in it, so it shouldn't be too hard. This class is a little odd because there are two instructors, which I've never had happen before, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they ration their time to us. The class seems to use some physics, so.....they better help me with that because I have no clue. But overall the class is pretty interesting.
The only bad thing is that it's my class before my lunch. So I'm a little tired by then, especially if the teacher has a slightly boring voice, which he does.
Anatomy: My Anatomy class after that! I had about a 40 minute lunch, but that time was sort of cut because I had to walk to my car (which was near the soccer field) to exchange my books. There's no way I could haul the Anatomy book and binder around for three classes before that. While eating my lunch outside the class, this guy I knew in my first semester of college noticed me while he walked by. He's a marine, a typical one. Does he think that I don't notice he's not looking at my FACE when we're talking? I hadn't really seen him for the past two semesters because he was in Iraq, but he would talk to me when he was over there over AIM, so I do know him, but he still creeps me out.
Anatomy is nice and familiar. There are a few students in there from my old class that had to drop as well and are retaking it again, like me. I got a chair in the front this time, instead of the back. It really depends on when you get there. Last semester I had to take any chair that was open, which for the semester for me was in the back. Then the group gets attached to you so it sort of becomes your assigned seat. So this time, I am in the front!
He doesn't seem to be mean to any of the students who are like me and needed to re-take the class. I wonder if he has higher expectations this time, like he'll depend on us for answers if he calls us out. But it won't matter because I'll be ready anyway.
We were exposed to the cadaver today, which is weird because that didn't happen in the first day of last semester. Seeing the organs up closs and in 3-D is so much better than looking at it in the pictures. It gives you a better idea of what everything really looks like. Like the Gallbladder really IS green. I thought the book was just being weird and colored it that way.
I knew the answer to some of the questions. Like what the other word for fat is (adipose). I do remember some things from last semester, but now I feel like the people around me are going to assume I'm all smart and they can depend on me for help. Maybe I can help some, but I am retaking the class, so obviously something went wrong last semester!
Home: On the way home I went to the stables and put the blanket back on Tango. I took it off him this morning around 7:30. If I drive from home to the stables, from the stables to school, it takes about 30 minutes. I finally got home around 5:40 ish. And although I didn't feel tired, right when I happened to lay down on my bed, I knocked out for a couple of hours.
The first day of school really takes a lot out of you!
Although this schedule is still a little foreign to me, such as having all of my classes in two days instead of four, I feel good about it. I think I could pull this off no problem. I kind of liked having one class right after the other instead of having a lot of time in between to veg out and do nothing (like play my DS).
Tomorrow I'm off from school, but I'm sure I'll find something to keep me busy.
