I find it kind of weird that I use the weather as a proper form of conversation.
I mean, if a normal friend asks me how I'm doing, then I'll maybe mention a problem I'm going through or a feeling I'm having. But when a stranger or acquaintance asks me, I tend to reply with the weather.
They want to know how I'm doing, not the current weather forecast!
Maybe it's just a comfort. Probably thinking it's better to say something (like the weather) rather than nothing at all. But then when they ask me again in a second way (i.e. What else is going on?) I don't have a back up answer.
I guess it's easier to have preset answers for strangers instead of going into your whole lives with them. They're just looking for small talk, not to know your deepest secrets.
I just wonder why I always go to the weather.
