JHU Update

I got an e-mail from the admissions office last Friday. I was told that my application was put in limbo until I take and submit my GRE scores. I was a bit confused by this, as it was not listed as a requirement for the application process. A quick phone call cleared it all up-my application was strong enough to be sent to the committee, but they need to know more before they give a yay or nay, which is why they want me to take the test. Given that it's been about 15 years since I was in a classroom, I can understand their reasoning.

After talking with the admissions coordinator for a few minutes, she did tell me I can request to take the pre-req classes while they wait for my scores. She also let me know it's just the general and that the quantitative is more important than the verbal, which lets me know what to focus on. I got the GRE for Dummies last night and started into that, but from what I heard, Princeton and Kaplan are the way to go. I figure the Dummies book would be a good icebreaker and help me get back into the groove. Chances are, I'll take the computer version, but when is the question. I'm thinking if I can do it around late Feb/early March, that should be fine. This is something I really need to do so I can get out of that hornet's nest called work. It's only going to get worse given the situation there. When your mentor is telling you to get out as soon as humanly possible, that's a pretty big red flag.
