SO, this past Wednesday, which was the day before today.
I had to go to a PAFA meeting in Pittville:
Pittsville Area For the Arts.
You see, this all started last year in May, when myself and others decided to start a civic band in P-ville. We're a small group but we have fun, and we have had a few gigs and they all went fairly well. Also I was ask to be the Director and Conductor, almost the same thing, but not really. Anyway, we have like I said been practicing since May and things are good. But the thing is, we use the schools space and the bands music, which frist offm isn't that much or that good for some. and we don't have very many players, but that will change. So I have been talking with the band, and we thought that we would go to PAFA and ask for money to buy music. $500. which to some might sound like a lot of money but for a music program or band to buy music that bearly enough to buy 5 peices of music(full score).
So the band talked about it, and I said that $500 would be a good amount to ask for, so when they cut it down, we'll still get something. So last night I went to the meeting to ask for a $500 donation to the Band to buy our own music and start building our own music libray.
I also told PAFA that if for whatever reason, the band would break up, that the music would be donated to the school. Well, the meeting went good and they liked the case that I made for them so... THEY GAVE THE $500!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. This was AWESOME!!!!
This made me so happy, I really think that few people would understand, sorry no offence.
This made my week if not more. It's stuff like that makes me love what I do.
They also told us to go talk to other org in P-ville and see what if anything they could do for us. It's so nice when you live in a tiny town, and there are people there who care abou the fine arts and about the people who do them.
So now I have lots of work to do in looking for new music and what not. I thinking about jazz, blues and big band, brass band stuff. we'll see. Just needed to share my happiness!
