Given the very low activity among my friends here on LiveJournal and zero comments on my post and also the more and more personal nature of my journaling, I have decided to make this journal completely private.
No one is reading, so no point in sharing my thoughts and activities and emotions. While I didn't have very many comments ever, still LiveJournal used to be a very active place. Now it's like an echo chamber, all I hear is myself.
Other people have wandered away to other climes and fora, particularly the hugely public Facebook. I can never quite understand how a closed environment like LiveJournal can be replaced by the larger public environment like Facebook. Then again, my FL has always been very small here but it larger on Facebook.
But more importantly, I have different audiences for different social media. My reviewing is for a professional blog. My personal public blog is for talking about books, books, books. My Twitter is only for professional colleagues and friends from the book world. My Facebook is only for people I have met in person and like exchanging ideas with. There is no overlap between my Twitter world and my Facebook world. My social life runs through Facebook. My LiveJournal is for my private thoughts and emotions. I have started using it as a daily gratitude journal. And I no longer see a need to share these entries with anyone. This change will give me greater freedom of expression, which is very important to me right now.
Things may change with the privacy policies of this journal as the years go by.
