#365positivity: 11/5: Going Friends-Only

Nov 06, 2014 21:29

I'm considering taking my journal friends-only. I don't want to do it individually to certain posts, which I have done in the past, but I want an overall level of security.

This year with the #365positivity series of posts, I have gotten more and more personal and am writing about my kids more and more. I don't want someone creating a profile. I know, paranoid, right? But better safe, I say.

In the beginning, I wanted to be read, so I had it open to the public. Writing to be read is a different form of writing. It's a more showy kind of writing. And I indulged in it, because I wanted even lurkers to have an entertaining experience.

Now, I feel like I'm taking the journaling seriously and want to do it more privately. I'm not into as much reporting on the news and my impressions thereof, rather more on the immediate and the personal. I'm writing these days to celebrate the joys in my life and to remember that something good happens every day. It's a personal kind of writing that is for my eyes and those of some people I have gotten to know here.

I'm still ruminating this decision but I'm seriously leaning towards it.
