that may be the most coherent, reasonable reply you've ever given me. i only want to touch one of these topics at a time, though. FEMA. Brown? c'mon, seriously. he didn't belong there. And he fucked up. I really want to go off on a tangent about our poor president and his having to cancel his vacation two days early.. but i'll save that for later. Back to Brownie. he was not qualified for the job, and although they KNEW that New Orleans' levee system wasn't going to survive a Category 3 hurricane, they didn't prep when a CATEGORY FOUR was on it's way. Do i hold the federal government entirely responsible? no. but what the hell is FEMA for, anyway? from their website, (www.fema.gov), "Agency of the US government tasked with Disaster Mitigation, Preparedness, Response & Recovery planning." preparedness, eh? maybe if we didn't have bush's unqualified butt boy heading this agency, we could've better prepared for this disaster. i know "disaster preparedness" is a difficult task, at best. However, that is pointedly what they're there for. I think that FEMA's failure was pretty obvious when Brownie was called back and then forced to resign, and then brought before congress. but i'm sure that most of this is no news to you. even fox news reported all of this.

i can't hold back a small jibe about hollywood liberals. who the fuck is the governor of your homestate again? ahah and what's his party? :). and fahrenheit 9/11 doesn't have fuck-all to do with putting actors in political positions. peace.

hehe. I was talking about how democrats are backing hollywood and such. not putting them into positions :o) They just want to be mainstream to the uninformed audience.
Anyways.....I thought that the state of Louisiana said that their levy was just fine being able to withstand a class 3. Thats what Ive heard anyways. I dont really watch news and all since I dont have any sort of cable in my room ;o) so Im just going off of what Ive heard and what not. But yes I did hear all about the head of FEMA resigning and accepting blame and what not.....but I guess people are still pointing the finger at Bush *cough cough* ;o)
Take care buddy!

first, my last reply sounded more heated than intended on a re-read, and i apologize for that.

having done further research, the levees were intended to withstand a category 3 hurricane, but when congress proposed an $11 million budget for hurricane prevention, Bush counter-proposed a $3 million dollar budget. Subsequently, the US Army Corps of Engineers did not have the funding to finish construction on the levees, or to do the necessary repairs. They warned that the pump system and levees in certain districts of New Orleans (which happen to have been flooded), would not hold in Category 3 conditions. Take it easy bro-

oh, and i blame bush for brown, as he nominated him. and they're old friends, so that's sweet and all, i just like to see someone who's qualified for the job. like the guy that replaced brown, the 30 year chief of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department. fyi: (not trying to state something obvious, but you said you didn't watch the news) Michael Brown is a former lawyer and, White House news release in 2001 said Brown had worked for the city of Edmond, Okla., in the 1970s as "an assistant city manager with emergency services oversight" However, a city spokeswoman told Time magazine that Brown had actually worked as "an assistant to the city manager." Regardless of which of those is true, Edmond, Oklahoma?! Have you even heard of this place? And an oversight committee? This doesn't sound like the kind of experience necessary to direct disaster preparedness efforts. Buuuut.. good ol' Brownie, well, he's GW's friend. Enough for now :) -me
