Back in the United States

I've been back in Chicago since August 17th.

First week was quite busy with doctor appointments and I had a job interview.

I applied for a job with the Chicago Council on Global Affairs as a program associate. I have thus far had a phone interview and an in-person interview on the 20th of August. I'm supposed to find out how that went soon, either this Thursday or soon after that ( I said that I would call to follow up on Thursday since by then it will have been two weeks since the interview). I have to say that this position and the waiting period have been making me neurotic. This job has showed up in the plot of at least two dreams that I've had...in the first dream I don't get the job and then I die via the Avada Kedavra curse. (I told my boyfriend about this dream and he was being really sympathetic up until the point at which I told him how I died and then he was attempting to stifle his laughter with a mediocre amount of success..)

The second dream is that they tell all of us (the prospective candidates) that each of us will come in for a day and do whatever we think the job entails. I'm there until 9pm and when I'm about to leave, I suddenly realize that the main desk we use is really disorganized and I go back for another god-knows-how-many-hours and then when I go to leave again I can't because there's been a shooting in the Loop and they're still securing the area.

The moral of the story being, this needs to resolve itself and my subconscious needs to shut-the-hell up because its not helping. Exercise (of the cardiovascular variety) and reading Buddhist scriptures before bed seem to be the only things that really help me relax.

John (boyfriend of almost 5 months) is coming to visit in a week for six days and then will fly back to Munich and then on to London to see his mother. My tentative plan presently is to stay in the U.S. until I either find a job here or in the EU or my COBRA runs out.
