recommending a laptop
The Polish guy at work asked me to recommend a laptop for his daughter. She is going to college next year. First off, I told him he should really check with the school for any specific things they like students to have. I suggested either the Dell 600 series, or the G4 iBook. I'm a bit hesitant to try to pimp the Apple, because she has only used Windows and learning a new OS *and* courses might be a but much. buuuuut, I really think the 12" iBook is one hell of a laptop, and for 1400 bucks (edu discount) she could get 640mb ram, an airport extreme card, and the 3 year extended service program... on a machine that will for all intensive purposes be virus proof. iChat AV would be another plus for a student away from home..
I dunno. I think I may let her borrow my G3 iBook for a few days (under a guest account ;) ) *if* the school says Apples are OK, and she is interested.
