It's been a fairly interesting day.
With the need to occasionally get out of the DC area and all the stress and aggravation they put in the air (and water, and don't get me started on the coffee...) the girl and I took a road trip up to Annapolis. Okay, so 'road trip' is stretching things a bit but the point is we got away for a day. It was nice and quiet and right on the Chesapeake Bay. It was reminiscent of the town I grew up in and a dead ringer for where Kira grew up across the bay from me. If not for the nasty heat and humidity it would have been quite comfortable. The low-light of the trip was that Green Alien Head (a comic store) was closed for no apparent reason. Bah I say...BAH! This was offset by the lunch we had at Ninja Cafe. The fish and chips weren't first rate (to be honest they weren't even third rate) but still, lunch at the Ninja Cafe rocks. Then we wandered around and had some very very good ice cream shakes.
We were thwarted by the nefarious Green Alien Head, but we persisted and traveled north to a store called "Games and Comics...And Stuff" (I guess we had reached our quota of interesting named establishments). After fighting traffic (we got there a bit after five) we were pleasantly surprised by a nice game store. We browsed for a good long time and I ended up with (as a certain redswami and probably some others have already guessed) PARANOIA. It's the first time I've seen it in a store and had the urge to support both the game and the store. Besides, the contents listed on the back include: "New non-D20 rules. PARANOIA is fun. D20 games are not fun. Play PARANOIA." How could I go wrong?
We also bought some tiny wicker baskets to feed to our little
Chaos engines. That's about it for today.
Peace
