About the FiM Fanbase
This is just a small rant I needed to get off my chest.
After my weekend at Anime Boston I realized how WEIRD the FiM fanbase is.
It's really all they talk about and will dish out $75-$95 dollars on custom made plushies. I kid not, this lady was selling plushies she made for that much! I mean, they were amazing and well done, but not worth that much IMO.
This one extreem brony wanted to buy my friend's Derpy plushies from her, that's how badly he wanted it.
I was truely frigtened at how hardcore some of these people were.
Half, I think, were in it for the sake to me noticed. I felt a little uncomfortable around some of the fans, to be honest.
I LOVE the show and I have some of the merch, but Im not hardcore like some of these other men out there. I wanna enjoy this fandom for the stories, art, and excellent animation. Its when weird people or self proclaimed tollerators get in it that I wanna back down.
After the whole Derpy fiasco I wanted to hide that I was a fan. I dont want people to think that I was one of THOSE fans who exploded over a change that, while stupid, was kinda nessicary in a way.
Im very flip floppy about the Derpy case. I was mad that they changed it..it was like saying you can fix a permanent disorder....but the change was needed cuz the name is offensive in a way.
What should have happened was that they take out Dash calling her Derpy and replace it with her saying Ditzy-Doo, the name I preffer to call Derpy. Althou that was the best shout out ever!
I guess what Im trying to say is...is that the fandom needs to calm down just a little.
I dont mind the products...they make me happy, its just...the realy weird fans that set me off I guess.
