Let it snow!

I know I haven't exactly posted in a while, but there's not really much to say.

1. I'm still looking for a long-term legal job that's both challenging and meaningful to someone besides a massive + awful law firm, and there's possibilities on the horizon.

2. I'm still swimmingly happy with M. -- things have only gotten better with the addition of Lainey the Labradoodle (she's more mutt than designer dog, seeing as we got her from the shelter and she's too silly to be a dignified/pampered dog), finding the perfect balance of couple/alone time, and discovering something new (even if it's tiny) each day to adore each other for.

3. I finally have time to do things, although mostly I've caught up on light sci-fi/fantasy reading and gaming with the guild I've known for like 5 years now. I've also been making time for a little bit of daily poetry -- whether it's pulling a book from the shelf, googling something, or reading the latest entries in the Theysaid LJ-comm. A little poetry every day, in my humble opinion, is just like meeting a new friend or learning something new -- there's a fresh outlook and a different way to see the world or live life. :)

4. I need to cook more often and exercise more. It's less of a resolution or a promise, and more of a state of affairs. I assume I'll change my tone when my h.s. reunion comes up in November -- I don't know what was so traumatizing about high school, since I had plenty of friends, but I just have a sense that I want to look good and have an "amazing" career. It's lame, but it's true.

That all being said, I'm mostly posting because I'm excited about forecasts calling for snow tomorrow in Columbia, SC!! (If you don't know geography, its proximity to Hell should tip you off that this is a rare occurrence) Wild theories are abound as to why this has happened:

a) Magical thinking -- Michael wanted to watch the inauguration, and so did I....we had work/court respectively...and now we can sit in our pj's and bask in the glory of it on our big flat screen.

b) God wanted South Carolinians to stay home and watch the inauguration, since a ton of national news articles on civil rights kept citing SC as one of the most violently racist places in the South, and maybe it's payback.

c) It's the weather, stupid.

d) Because life is unpredictable, amazing in the details, charmingly surprising, and absolutely wonderful.
