Murakami

I'm almost done Kafka on the Shore. I'm not quite sure what to think of it. It's certainly an entertaining and easy read, and shares the same general style and concepts as Hardboiled Wonderland and Wind-Up Bird Chronicle (I think Murakami's got a monopoly on "orgasm as a portal to another dimension"). Kafka's characters are actually quite good, rounded ones (even if I kind of miss Apathetic Middle-Aged Japanese Man). But... it's kind of dull. Sure, there are wacky Murakami-esque things happening, but it just didn't draw me in like the others did.

Oh well.
