Kimonos

I spent today putting together kimono outfits, which was fun, but also a lot of work with all the boxes to lug around. I got together four that I thought worked and that I really liked. My mint green tsukesage, dusty pink houmongi, komon with a rather funky butterfly pattern, and a yellow komon. I got pretty excited about the thought of wearing the

the problem with buying traditional/ethnic clothing from places is that it always seems like a good idea to buy it there and then, but really, outside of that place and time, it's hard to find the right occasion to wear it.

I'm sure it's very lovely though! If you can find the chance to wear it, do! It was just something I was mulling over lately...

Yeah, I bought way too many kimonos, somewhere around 50-60... I do actually have more opportunities to wear them here than I ever felt I had in Japan. Mainly because here a Japanese friends dinner party or the department Christmas party pass for occasions to wear kimono...

I have one Chinese qipao, but mostly I was in Morocco lately and a lot of my classmates were like ~let's buy traditional Moroccan clothing~. Which, again, sounds cool and like a good idea at the time, but then you get back and you're like, "...what do I do with this?" XD

Googling traditional Moroccan clothes, the kaftans look pretty chic and versatile to me. I guess it depends on how elaborate it is where and when it would ever be appropriate to wear it though. I'm fairly certain that qipaos, however, are the sexiest piece of clothing ever invented. 9_9 Mmm, qipaos...

qipao are sexy if you have boobs. otherwise, it looks like you're wearing this giant piece of fabric.

Aww... I guess the fact that wearing kimono really is wearing a giant piece of fabric and only looks good if you have no boobs offers no consolation. I wear A-cup and still manage to have what's popularly termed "boobiage"...
