Today I checked the stamps on all of my old silver, i.e. my sparklingly delicious cufflinks and tie clips.
Tie clips are from 1952, 1955 and 1964, from older to younger. My tie bar doesn't have stamps and neither does my lovely bronze Sarpaneva clip, so I can't say how old they are. It's a wild coincidence that two of the silver clips are by the same silversmith. Of all the silversmiths in Finland...
Cufflinks are from 1957, 1968 and 1970, from older to younger. The youngest ones are the Sarpaneva cufflinks which I got yesterday, and they are beautiful.
I own, I think, eight pairs of cufflinks now. All pairs but one are vintage. Today the auction on a pretty damascened pair with onyx inlay closed, so I'll be getting my #9 cufflinks soon enough. The fact that I assign them numbers probably indicates that I'm neurotic. When I hit 10, I'll probably stop assigning numbers for them. I already own too many shirts to remember their numbers. But I still have pants with numbers...
