Root Canals
So it wasn't so much an abscessed tooth as it was an infection under the root of the tooth. The night of my last entry I was in so much pain I called the emergency hot line around 7:25 or so, got the dentist, was in tears and he told me to come in right away and they'd start the root canal. He also put me on codeine and amoxicillin, which did nothing at the time, Jessie and I got the office around 8:30 or so and I was out of there before 9. He's a really good dentist, I got a good 4 or 5 hours of sleep before the numbness wore off at 5:30 in the morning and I was in blinding pain again. I waited till 8am to call the office and they got me in at 12:45. This time, they left the tooth open to drain and put me on darvocet, so I've been in considerably less pain since. I did take today off again because of the energy draining side effects of the darvocet, but oh my, root canals are rough, specially on infected teeth. It's kind of gross, but there was puss underneath the root, they're closing the tooth up on wednesday afternoon and that will be the first big thing done with my tooth, there's one more root canal after that, then two crowns (one on each root canaled tooth), my wisdom teeth being extracted, a lot of deep cleaning to stave off periodontitis and a LOT of cavities to be filled.
I've had problems with my teeth for years, it feels so good to finally get on top of things.
Speaking of which, I got a look at my credit report today, last year, I had a 10k hospital bill on it last year that isn't there this year, which I suppose is a good thing, not counting my student loan, that leaves me with about $4k-$5k debt. I called a debt counseling/consolidation company, and before you get all wary about it, it was a non profit company, so I have to submit hard copies of all the bills they've been sending me within the last 45 days, and then they'll contact them and give me a monthly estimate of what I can pay to get them all paid off and get my credit back on track. Anyhow, the darvocet has been making me sleepy, so off to bed I go.
