Ol' Surge just couldn't resist the offer of stopping by a bar, and to think it would be this soon after he had even come to this place! It made him feel a little more at home and comfortable, because hey, what couldn't help a man settle in without a little share of booze anyway?

"Hey!" He greeted Jill, popping by the stool next to her. This was that same girl... Jill, wasn't it? Yeah, that was it. "Told you I'd show up," He grinned, turning towards the bar to see what kind of beer would strike his fancy. He remarked about one certain kind that seemed to be pretty fine, and wound up having a mug of it being poured for him.

"Huh, thanks," He muttered toward... whatever... just served his beer for him. Ah well, time to enjoy, he thought, as he took a half-swig.

She flashed him a smile, and a small wave, watching the man come in silently, until he had spoken first.
"Hello," One side of her mouth tugged into something like a smirk, "That you certainly did, Surge." the way she pronounced his name- with the slightest pause before the '-ge'- made it clear how close she'd come to unintentionally calling him 'sir'. Again. She hid was little embarrassment this caused in a sip of her wine, and glanced again towards the bar.
"It's a bizarre place, this school. I assume this is the kind of thing that just needs getting used to." Jill shrugged, and turned her attention back to Surge. "I know you've only been here for a short time, but are you enjoying it so far?"

Oh yes, Surge had indeed noticed that pause, but at least she corrected herself. He didn't show any discomfort, though, and merely grinned over at her. Hey, there was just something about being casual with a little lady and fellow faculty member like this that he preferred over formalities and he meant that in the most asexual way possible.

"Yeah, didn't expect most of this. A place full of gears and brought to me by a talkin' mouse," He snickered and shook his head, realizing just how strange that, indeed, was. "Seems pretty good, though. The kids around here aren't as tiny and baby-like as I expected!" AS tiny and baby-like. To a man like Surge, though... they still did seem that way. Sort of.

That provoked a laugh. "That really does sound strange out loud, doesn't it?" She shook her head, laughing quietly. "The students here really aren't what I expected, yeah... So different from most of the children I'm used to at home. Sometimes i think they'll take more getting used to than the school itself."

"Ha, the children around back home always wound up being trainers playing with their little puny Jigglypuffs and Smoochums!" Surge haughtily laughed, although... the fact that some people here might not even know what Pokemon were did cross his mind. But only after he said that. Whoops. "And that's a hell of a lot different from the kids I'm seein' here, so that ought to count for something!"

He then looked over at her, expecting a remark over what the hell Pokemon even were. He wouldn't at all be surprised if that wound up being her initial reaction.

Jill.. had no idea why that was so funny, what a jiggypoff or smoochiwhatsit was, or what on earth was wrong with this man, and the look on her face made that extremely clear.
"You'll.. have to run that by me again, I don't think I follow you."

Surge definitely expected that. "Oh yeah, some people around here probably don't know what Pokemon are!" He leaned over and rested his elbow on the counter, ready to make a brief explanation.

"Pokemon are certain kinds of creatures back in my homeland. They're kind of animal-like, have a wide variety of elemental types and attacks, and have hundreds of different species. Me, I specialize in electric-types back home!" He pointed to himself with his thumb.

"As for what Jigglypuffs and Smoochums are, they're little puffy cutesy baby Pokemon that only little kids would want to raise," He commented with a snicker. Haha, ~wittle baby Pokemon~.

Jill listened, interested, though with an increasingly incredulous look on her face. this sounded like he could only be pulling her leg... But, then again, considering some of the students, or teachers, for that matter... Jill's suspension of disbelief was a bit longer than usual.
"Sounds... interesting. Were you able to bring any with you, or..? I'd like to see one sometime."

"Hah! Was I able?" Surge grinned, tapping the lone Pokeball strapped onto his belt sub-consciously as he went on. "I've got my Raichu with me, safe in his Pokeball here! Don't know if he'd rather be out here with these people around, though, so I can show him to ya another time!" Oh, he loved showing off his badass Raichu. That little guy that he knew for years and years was his Pokemon pride-and-joy.

"yeah, I'd like that." Jill smiled, and went back to her wine, finishing off the glass and setting it on the bar.
oh, she was going to be very surprised when Surge introduced her to Raichu. In her mind, the image of a veritable monster was forming, bearing more of a resemblance to some of Umbrella Corp's creations than that large, cute, stubby rat that Raichu actually was.
Oh, Surge. You are going to get laughed at, so much, when Jill actually sees him.
"Something a bit stronger, surprise me." She told the... whatever it was that was serving them drinks, and waited on the order.
She may very well regret that decision later.

"That's a plan then!" Surge concluded, taking some more of beer and swinging it down. He was nearly done himself, and had in advance decided to call out to... what the hell the bartender was for another one. He didn't want anything stronger yet, if at all. Probably not on his first time at this bar, but maybe another time...
