Pyramid Party

Mar 10, 2004 18:59

I've started a new game. No guessing stones or anything; just post a koan or a guess, but only one at a time. I will mark koans about once a day, or more often if there are three or more waiting. I will respond to guesses as soon as I get them. Let's try to keep most of the game discussion in this thread, to avoid post-bloat in the game thread.

Forget what I said about responding to guesses as soon as I get them... I just realized that that gives an unfair advantage if someone makes a bunch of guesses when I happen to be active. This is what I wanted to avoid by only posting once a day, so I will keep that policy even for guesses. (But again, if there are at least three active players, I will respond more quickly.)

Image scale & zoom dougo March 14 2004, 09:53:35 UTC
I just posted a koan image in which one pyramid is partially off-screen. I wanted to keep all the images at the same scale, so it would be easier to see pyramid sizes, but please let me know if you'd rather all pyramids be full-frame; I can easily re-shoot that image, and I may just re-shoot all of them to keep the same scale, but right now I'm feeling lazy...

Weekends dougo March 14 2004, 09:55:24 UTC
Only one person took a turn yesterday, so I felt a little unsure about responding even though a day had passed. Should I maybe only respond on weekdays, to avoid giving an advantage to those who play on weekends? Or is this not a useful distinction?

Rot13 rule guesses dougo March 20 2004, 09:33:33 UTC
Oops, I forgot to provide the cleartext for mattlistener's rule guess. But now that I think about it, I'm happier just leaving it rot13; feel free to decrypt it yourself, but this gives readers the option to play along without knowing the guesses.

Let me know if you have strong opinions either way...
