So, this month I was supposed to go see
The Groundhogs with my parents at The Point here in Cardiff.
The last time my Dad saw The Groundhogs has become generally known by all those who experienced this particular after gig event, The Night of the Long Walk, when a paranoid and overly cautious police force marched everyone on foot over the mountain from Cardiff to Caerphilly - no chance to get a taxi, tough luck if you came by car, if you were at the gig and didn't come from Cardiff you were walking home with a police escort.
A different time, a different decade, having heard some of their CDs recently I was quite looking forward to seeing them live. Alas, this was not to be. With the economic depression hitting business after business, my folks got an email stating that The Point has gone into liquidation, all gigs have been cancelled and to seek compensation from their credit card companies (all well and good so long as you paid for your ticket via credit card).
Damn.
