RIP Shelly...

On Saturday I let my cat outside, because I knew she was longing to lay in the sun. She did that for at least a couple of hours. The day went on and I couldn’t see her, but it was hot and she had a habit of laying under the house where it was cool.

Normally I’d only have to call a few times and she would come running for her dinner. Saturday she didn’t. Nor did she come on Sunday morning.

She did return, Sunday night. She couldn’t use her back legs at all. I can’t imagine how she dragged herself to our back door, were she collapsed.

She ate the tiniest bit of food, but I had to help hold her head. That’s when I knew…

We did a late night run to the Lort Smith hospital, when the kind doctor talked us through what was going to happen.

I got down and put my hands to the side of her face and talked to her. I told her I loved her and soon she’d be with her friend Zena. I thanked her for making it home and reassured her she was with her family now.

Her eyes moved to stare back at me and a few seconds later, she was gone. She was put to rest near her friend Zena, outside in our back yard.

Goodbye my friend… I loved you. RIP.
