Well, I haven't posted in almost two weeks. I swear I'm doing okay, despite the tone of my last post. Ariel was buried last Monday, and though I'm a little more rational about the whole thing than I was at first, I'm still blue about it, of course. But good friends and looking forward have helped a bit.
Now, on to regularly scheduled programming.
I got my refund check from Case yesterday. I'm not saying how much it was, but it was substantial enough to make me rather happy. Amber and I decided to celebrate my newfound wealth, by going
TO WHITE CASTLE.
Neither of us had ever been, and we were curious, so we went. Let me just say that those skinny little squares of meat, slathered in onions and topped with American cheese and a single crinkle-cut pickle, were pure heaven. We each had five of them (though I know us to be capable of far more), plus fries (two orders each, about ten fries to a box), and every so often one or both of us would just moan ecstatically, "White Castle." It was beautiful, I tell you, from the orange-and-blue cardboard sleeves that housed our portions to the red cream soda that moistened our palates.
Lest anyone suspect that White Castle was the extent of our celebration, we proceeded to the West Side Market after our little fill-up. Fresh produce, free-range meat, and classy cheese were among the delicacies we purchased for our home-cooking enjoyment. Ah, bliss.
After these adventures, we topped off the night by watching Golden Girls episodes (Amber wins at life for having the entire first season on DVD) with
dietcokeboy, his doggies, and his friend Sarah. Truly, a better day could not have been had.
If and when my brother gets done working a show somewhere out in the boondocks, we are going to meet him for dinner tonight. Otherwise, I have not much else to report.
