Yesterday a group of us went to Detroit to see the
Star Trek Exhibit. It was great fun to see the costumes and props up close and personal. We sat in the Captain's chair and played connect the timeline to the episode in the Star Trek history room. Walking down the Enterprise hallway, we noticed the ship status display. Upon close inspection we found a few previously unknown rooms such as rat station and the auxiliary hamster wheel power chamber. :D
No ship is complete without a transporter room and people could watch their molecules deconstruct and reassemble in the computer screen as Scotty beamed them up. Personal photography was prohibited, but of course there were professional photo opportunities. Several of our party had their pictures taken in costume and for a price just shy of highway robbery, they could be purchased. The exhibition missed out on one huge money maker though. They didn't have a program available for purchase. I'm sure we weren't the only ones who would have nabbed one of those had they been available.
If you like Star Trek and have the opportunity, go see the exhibition. It truly is worth it.
