I have this faint memory of last spring being fucking amazing. These days it is nothing but shittons of work, happiness at seeing leaves, and staying up till 2:30am every night, which is tiring.
Upsides: summer is coming and with it, hope. I like reading Simone de Bouvoir's The Second Sex - finally a writer I can identify with, someone not addressing sexuality as a constant but questioning its nature, taking into account individuality, making sense! Sosc is back to being so good and life-important now that we're not reading Freud, just critiquing him.
I have to email all my professors about discussing final paper topics. and there's four weeks left till finals week. but earlier is better than later, way better. I just wish I didn't actually have to figure out a thesis this early while I'm still in the middle of all this reading to do, argh.
I think I'm going to end up writing two final papers around Marx again. Woo! Marxism and Moby Dick, and Marxism and Marcuse (and maybe de Bouvoir if she has interesting things to say about historical materialism; I'm not there yet). And for erasure I think my thesis is something like this: In A Humument, Tom Phillips uses addition to erase, showing the mobility and flexibility of text by shaping text into non-language, shaping the visual form of text, and shaping the genre of text. I'm excited about this!
books: i swear i read them,
