So I created a fantasy world a couple of years ago, but I haven't really had the chance to do anything with it and it has sat in the notebook I wrote it in for several years. Last month I had the urge to write more on it and flesh out some details. I also had some inspiration for one new race of my own creation and a human subrace. I think that I have created a fairly interesting race for my world. In the future I'll probably post some stuff about my world behind a LJ cut in the next few weeks as I get the stuff typed up.
I also had the chance to run a D&D game based in said world because James went home for Christmas, so we couldn't play the two games that we usually play on alternate Mondays. I took the initiative and ran a game based in my world and it seems to have been a real success. Egger, Jon, and Kittae all seemed to really enjoy it which makes me happy because I really enjoy it when I facilitate people having a good time.
The theme for the world is racism. There is a human Empire that upholds human supremecy and has launched attacks against the two major nonhuman nations, the elven and dwarven nations. The dwarves and elves had to put aside their longstanding distrust and fighting to face this new threat at full strength. They both suffered heavy losses but were eventually able to remove the threat from their borders. The war is at a current standstill and this is where the game takes place.
I'm really excited about the future of this game. The game started at level 3 and the party leveled up in their first session. They got close to leveling up again in their second session. I'm trying to keep the game low-powered and as a result, I am not introducing very high powered magical items into the game. Most of the magical items the group has encountered give bonuses to certain skills rather than combat oriented stuff.
I guess that is it for this installment. Have a nice day. Happy New Year as well. I wonder what 2007 will hold for me. 2006 was quite interesting.
