so the cat has a limp, so I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow.
also, I got a citation for too many weeds in my garden.
the haul: huge huge huge zucchini, probably the last of the fava beans, baby potatoes (but that's all we'll get, the plants wilted), green beans, rocket, a couple blackberries, the last beet, and some green tomatoes harvested from plants that had to be cut back.
the chard plant was basically done last time I was in the garden, but I didn't pull it and this time it was covered in bugs. yech.
so if I can't clear everything up I'll lose the plot in about a week and a half. oy.
anyway, dinner tonight was amazing, thanks to ingredients and tools:
boiled potatoes with soupy zucchini/mint/almond pesto and sauteed zucchini, fava beans, green cherry tomatoes, and arugula
all of the main ingredients were fresh from my garden, with the only non-garden additions being water for the boiled potatoes, olive oil, salt, pepper, almonds, and pecorino for the zucchini mint pesto, and olive oil for the sauteed veg.
soupy pesto made in the cusinart from raw zucchini, one and a half handfuls of fresh chopped mint, a handful of almonds, olive oil, and a small chunk of pecorino, plus salt, pepper-"cooked" with the addition of water from the potatoes. (a lot of this got left over.)
serving: four boiled potatoes, several spoonfuls of sauce, layer of sauteed veg on top.
so great.
