On Saturday I got up stupidly early and caught a lift up with a couple of friends including
day_saving_geek to the Good Food and Wine Show in Sydney at the exhibition centre. The weather goin up was rather inclement, which slowed us down quite a bit, so we got there just in the nick of time to get the very last space in the underground car park [I knew that Light Antitank Weapon would come in handy =P ]. Part of the food show is the celebrity chef theatres, where they demo stuff live. This year we saw Donna Hay and Ainslie Harriott; Ainslie was hip-swingingly hilarious, he was totally messing with [in a good way] the volunteer helping him out.
In between the demos I did the usual wandering about the show, grazing on samples [including booze! pity the vodka was room temperature] Got myself a few showbags and the ubiquitous Extra Virgin Olive Oils; this year it was lemon-pressed and lime, with some caramelised balsamic on reccomendation from
day_saving_geek. Got a couple of things for Bruce and the Olds too. After we dodged rain, picked up some bits and pieces, I looked for custard tarts and mango pancakes, and dinner in there somewhere too.
On Sunday I was hanging out with Bruce at her place [hadn't seen her for ages!], making pancakes for her and her housemates for breakfast, which was much appreciated! It was a good vibe, having a leisurely comfort brekky with the sun streaming in =) After Bruce and I went for a drive, bought her a bDay present, did some other random shopping and showed her Fortress Destroid. Turns out she likes shopping for furnishings and stuff, so I got a girlfriend and a shopping buddy for my bathroom, yay! Went back to her place a while longer, chilled and made my way home.
On Monday I finally got to catch up with
imaginaryo_o in person! We had great fun talking each other's ears off, and malted milk from Gus' FTW!
And finally a question to all you caffiene addicts: if you have espressos, what do you generally eat with it, if anything? Doing some research for an interesting affogato variant and as a non-coffee drinker I'm certainly open to input =)
Well, back to the Fortress Destroid gulag for me. Peace citizens.
