on Tues night my computer decided to start hating me, a lot. First I get random freezes where Winblows Exploder crashes and I can't restart the process, then my hard drive starts making some mildly #@%!ed up noises. I disconnect anything other drives with moving parts and it's definitely the hard drive making that noise. So
nysskitty and I reckoned it was the hard drive stuffing up, so we took it out and I installed winblows onto my other hard drive. It was all fine and dandy for a while, then that drive started making the same bloody sounds! As you can imagine we were ranging from dazed and confused to rapidly smouldering frustration. After a bit of testing and log checking, it now appears that my mobo is being a mofo. Suffice to say, NOT HAPPY BUNNIES!!! [
more like this bunny] Gonna try it with my primary drive again and see what happens, hope to hell that it's just the mobo...
The disturbing thing is that a profile of a fellow team member of mine bought the farm yesterday and managed to wipe out all their data on their workstation's hard drive along with a bunch of job-specific apps. Welcome to Computer Failure Week, marines, enjoy your stay in the Silicon Shit!
A good night's sleep wouldn't go astray either...
Update: YYEESS! Different SATA ports cooperate! Just gonna hook up the second hard drive, see how it goes... [touch wood]
