Almost-18-month-old Joshua managed to lock himself in the upstairs bedroom today, so that was exciting. Not old enough to follow directions on how to unlock the door again, of course. And no hinges on my side of the door, and no screws on my side of the doorknob.
Ugh, I thought. Cheap interior hollow doors, I'll just get a hammer and knock my way through. Nope, this one is solid wood of course. Go to get the drill; find drill, no bits. Look for bits, no bits, text husband who does not know where the bits are, because he is male and does not know where anything is.
Ended up making a screwdriver sized hole in the door, but not being able to open the lock. Finally found that if I removed the wood trim beside the door it revealed a half inch gap between door and doorjam, allowing me to shove the screwdriver in to moved the locking bolt. This fucking house. Elapsed time apx 1 hour. Joshua could not care less once he was out, I'm considering taking up drinking l.
