So all readers of this should be aware of the Australian romance story by now. Durring my stay Down Under last year I aquired a boy-friend. it was expected to end when I left but neither of us could let go. After the love was still there months and oceans away we decided we need to see eachother again. Thus was born the plot for Jason to come here.
On December 29 2006 he did so and was here until January 26 2007.
One of the best months of my life!
We did nothing on his first day. My father was out of town so we stayed at his place. It was sureal to see him standing in a place I had known for years. We soon got over that though. the next day we went down town. the Florida Aquarium was our first stop. I wanted him to see that north american wild life really is differnt. He loved the spoonbills. then to Ybor. He liked the old buildings but was confused by how decentrealized Tampa is. There is no central 'Down Town' you have Ybor, Channelside, around the Arts center but its all disjointed. He did how ever love Tallahassee.
We drove up 98 so he could see rural florida and the priceless bits of americana along the highways. We took out a hotel and got dinner at the CrackerBarrel. His first experiance with southern cooking. Heavy and sweet. Liked it all, but couldnt imagin eating it reguarly. We went to the parks of Wakulla. Leon Sinks and St. Marks, I drove him past my old house with such scizophrenic memories for me. I tried to call a few old friends. But numbers were wrong or unanswered. Besides, we were happy to have alone time. We went to giant books stores (no Borders or the like in Aus.), strolled through the light coded down town streets and saw the parks and places of my childhood.
After a delightful weekend we departed for Tampa. Then my car started smoking.
We pulled into a little car shop and the mechanic found soon enough that the radiator had cracked. Pricy to fix but they could do it so i gave the go ahead and jason and I walked down the 2 lane high way to a resturant. Or started to. Then an old elementary school friend recognized me walking down the road. Sean! wow hadnt seen the kid in years and he drove us to a great little mexican place. terrific luck! back to the mechanic, start to drive away into the sunset when...heats up again. We get her back as the shop is closeing and the wonderful men there stay after to look harder...the head gasket was cracked. would take days to get the part and around $1500 to boot. I cant afford that for the old girl...The manager drives Jason and me to a hotel. Which Jason paid for because he's a thoughtful sweetie. Ny chance the hotle was next to a car rental place. I had to return the car at an airport. So my mother picked us up at the Tampa International.
Jason got on wonderfully with my family. They had held of on the gift exchange game until we arrived and he ended it with My Little Pony shampoo. My uncle took him to a classic car show and everyone forced fruit pies on him after hearing Aus only had meat ones. He liked the little town and thought the white gray sand was strang. Its all orange tinted where he comes from.
Having met all the people of my past he was stoked to meet my friends and see my Uni!
TacoBell runs and bad puns. He went to most of my classes in the first week. And calmed me through dropping one. So his reward was a trip to Busch Gardens! Hurray! Oh man, we skipped my friday organic lec and there was noone there so we rode all the rides multiple times, watched the Bird Show and did annoying cute couple things in the zoo. I bought him animal food so he fed his favorite birds...the malard ducks and white ibis. Meh, I though galah were fantastic and they are regarded as pests. to end the perfect day, my purse was stolen too! bye bye new phone, camera, ID's and years of collecable pins. I was so glad he was there. i still complained about it but never really freaked out.
Classes, movies, cuddles. Due to my lack of a car we didnt get off campus much. We saw Pan's Labrynth with shimon and Leah. plus he had got to got the steak 'n shake. It made him think of meat milkshakes so he reallyed wanted to see what was actualy there.
We went down town again with my mother and sister to see the art museum and get coffee in some cute shop. Went to the Crazy Buffet with my father and sister...
It all melds together abit time lines wise. But he got to know my friends and my home and at the end we both agreed that staying together was the best thing we could possibly do. I was so impressed but how much people liked him. I know he's wonderful but for such a diversity of people to like him quickly must have been an ego boost for my bloak.
I borrowed my father's car to take him to the airport and spent a while feeling cold and lonley. But now plans are coming together for me to go to him in July. Screwy as long distance things are, I havent ever been happier with someone and thats not something you walk away from due to inconviniance.
now that you all are caught up I can get back to normal posts! And studying for my killer organic exam monday.
