On a less gloomy note...
On a more cheerful note, Second Linette is coming along fine.
She got herself a very own personal quest. When we last saw Linette in HavenMUSH she had become an alcoholic. Her guild was going down the drain. Members dwindling, she tried to restore the Avalon Opera House, but was running lower and lower on funds, to the brink of personal and professional bankruptcy.
Her girlfriend tried to help and save her, but they ended up fighting instead as soon as the subject was brought up. Mostly since Linette was going more and more introvert and tried to find comfort in a bottle of wine. After a while, her girlfriend gave up. You can only take so much passive aggressiveness before you get fed up. She told Linette that she would go find out more about her parents and left Linette. Not really breaking up, not really with the promise of coming back. Niirti (Linette's girlfriend) always wanted to know about her parents, and since she needed a break this was for the best.
A year passed. Two. Linette grew worse and worse, to the extent where she was drinking every day after work, giving herself the old alcoholic's excuse of "If I can upkeep my work, I'm not an alcoholic". Having alienated her girlfriend, her best friend, her parents and almost everyone in the guild she had a moment of clarity where she realized what she was doing. Shocked, disgusted and scared of what she had become started to fight to get back on track. She quit the guild and spent her time with her parents who, despite everything, cared for her and loved her. Helping her though a long year of getting back on her own two feet.
When sober, she thought back to her girlfriend. She made her mind up. She had never set foot outside of the Village of Haven, but she wanted to find her girlfriend. Give her a hug and tell her she was sorry. No matter how long it would take. She wanted to say she was sorry. May they or may they not live life together after that, she wanted to say she was sorry to the woman. Since they both live more or less forever (an elf and a dragon step-sister) time was not important.
Linette came to the realm of Valahari, where she quickly got a job at a local tavern. While there, she tried to get as much information about the very cold trail of Niirti as she could. All she knew was that this was one of the ports the woman had been in and she spent months trying to gather information about Nii's whereabouts. To no avail. However, she made a few friends while there, dear friends.
She decided to set her mark. As Taliesin was her pantheon, she would make sure that people far and wide heard about her. That way, perhaps, Nii's interest would perk and she would come to realize that the drunken, depressed and sad elf had finally gotten back on her own two feet. Linette did that in the only way she knew how, setting up a new guild.
This is where we are now... and really, only the last two paragraphs are roleplayed, rest is just imagined by me.
